“Pyaterochka” and Wal-Mart. 10 distinctions.

X5 Retail Group company that is one of the leaders of the Russian retailers registered a new trademark - Wal Rus. This trademark is confusingly similar with the trademark of Wal-Mart, the largest net in the world, informed “RBC daily”.

For now Wal-Mart does not have stores on the territory of Russia, though they said that they would like to open some. Moreover the company even filed an application before the Rospatent and one year later they registered Wal-Mart trademark that was compared with the new brand.

This news was taken with restraint at the representative office of Wal-Mart in Russia as the American retailer carried out rebranding in 2008 and the new trademark is much different from the previous one. Then, the similarities which could be noted between the old firm mark of Wal-Mart and the brand registered by X5 Retail Group lost its actuality.
